When to Use a Wheelchair

A wheelchair is a mobility device that a person sits in for transport.  They generally have a seat, backrest, arm rests, food rests, four wheels, and two handles for pushing the chair and its occupant.

A wheelchair is a very helpful device if movement of a patient is hindered through weakness or debility or if the patient is a fall risk.  The wheelchair makes it easy for a caregiver to move the patient from room to room.
